Johannesburg - He has been caught pants down with a gun in hidden in his underwear.
On Wednesday, police arrested a Diepsloot man for allegedly possessing an illegal handgun. But they didn’t find it where one would usually expect.
“When the suspect was first located, a body search could not reveal where the handgun was hidden,” said Honeydew police's Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela. He revealed that police had to conduct a second body search, which was more thorough, but decided not to go into details.
“The handgun was then found safely tucked away in the suspect’s undies,” Mavimbela said.
A loaded magazine was also found on the 32-year-old.
Mavimbela added that Diepsloot police “have cultivated a culture of being thorough” regarding body searches.
The suspect will be charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. He is due to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
Mavimbela thanked members of the public for their support.
Last year, an alleged house robber was also found hiding a firearm inside his underwear. He has since appeared in court.
