One man was killed, while an ANC councillor was wounded when gunmen stormed a meeting and opened fire.

Police were searching on Wednesday for a man believed to have shot and killed two men in Brighton Beach, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Lieutenent-Colonel Vincent Mdunge said Mandla Shinga and Sakhele Mthembu, both aged 54, were shot and killed on May 4 near the Jacobs hostel.

“Two more people were seriously wounded. It is believed an unknown man was randomly shooting at people near the hostel.”

Mdunge said the motive for the attacks was not yet known.

Two cases of murder and two cases of attempted murder were being investigated.
