Man in court after dog shot

Johannesburg - A pedestrian accused of shooting a barking dog appeared in the King William's Town Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, police said.

Spokeswoman Lieutenant Siphokazi Mawisa said the 34-year-old man was arrested in a neighbouring house in Sweetwaters on Monday.

He was charged with attempted murder, discharging a firearm in a municipal area, and pointing it and handling it while under the influence of alcohol.

The dog survived the shooting, Mawisa said .
