A 47-year-old man accused of raping an 11-year-old girl appeared in the Schweizer-Reneke Magistrate's Court on Monday, North West police said.

Captain Pelonomi Makau said the matter was postponed to May 14 for a bail application.

He was arrested on Sunday, in Amalia, outside Schweizer-Reneke. It was believed he gained entry to the girl's house through an unlocked door and allegedly raped her, Makau said. – Sapa
