Johannesburg - The case against Owen Serrero, allegedly linked to the attempted murder of investigators in the case against Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir, was postponed in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Prosecutor Penny Pillay told the court that two more dockets had been added to Serrero's case.
“I need time to go through the two additional dockets, and possibly hold an identity parade as well,” Pillay said.
Serrero stood in the dock during proceedings and kept waving his hand towards magistrate Simon Radasi.
He complained that he did not receive medication and was not allowed visitors at Pretoria central police station where he is being kept.
“I am given only one meal a day, and when I complained about all these issues I was told it was because I am a high risk detainee,” Serrero told the court.
Radasi told him to raise the matter with his attorney.
Serrero faced three charges of robbery, two of possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, three of motor vehicle theft, one of contravening road traffic laws, one of interfering with an investigation, and one of escaping from custody.
He was part of a group of people arrested in connection with the attempted murder of the investigators of Krejcir's case.
Krejcir and three other men were arrested in November for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a man whose brother, known only as “Doctor”, disappeared with a 25kg shipment of tik he had been recruited to help smuggle through OR Tambo International Airport.
They allegedly kept the man at Krejcir's Money Point business in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, for four days, and assaulted him.
Two armed police officers in plain clothes kept an eye on Serrero.
Radasi postponed the case to February 12.
