Eastern Cape - A man appeared in the Ngqamakhwe Magistrate's Court for allegedly beating to death a 64-year-old man he found in bed with his wife, according to a report on Friday.

Police spokesman Captain Jackson Manatha reportedly told the Daily Dispatch that Thandekile Tyekana, 47, of Mantunzeleni village was released on R500 bail.

Tyekana allegedly caught Sandi Mangala with his wife on Sunday evening and physically assaulted him.

“It is being alleged that upon (the husband) entering the room, the deceased picked a fight … and the two started fighting hard,” said Manatha.

“The deceased was later rushed to Ngqamakhwe day hospital where he died due to injuries sustained during the fight.”

Tyekana reportedly handed himself over to police on Monday and was charged with murder.

Manatha said the accused's wife, who fled during the fight, had not returned home since.

Tyekana is due back in court on October 3. - Sapa
