A 38-year-old man appeared in the Kanyamazane Magistrate's Court on Thursday for murder, rape, house robbery and kidnapping, Mpumalanga police said.
The man would remain in custody until his next court appearance on Friday, Colonel Leonard Hlathi said.
He allegedly broke into a house, held the residents at gunpoint and robbed them.
“He allegedly kidnapped a 51-year-old woman who lived in a room in the back yard of the house. The man then took her to his house,” said Hlathi.
Police arrested the man and later discovered the woman's body, dumped in bushes. - Sapa
