A 23-year-old man appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court on Friday for murder, hijacking, kidnapping, and possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition, Mpumalanga police said.
“The case was postponed to March 29 for further investigation. His identity can't be released in fear of jeopardising the case,” police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Leonard Hlathi said.
The man was arrested at his house in Masoyi, near Hazyview, on Thursday afternoon.
Cynthia Mashego, 35, was shot dead at the Sanlam building in Nelspruit at 8.30am on Thursday morning, while reporting for work. After killing her, the man responsible allegedly hijacked a powder blue Toyota Corolla with the registration number FJF 854 MP and fled. – Sapa
