Durban - A 30-year-old man, Nadeem Piyarilal, made a brief appearance at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

He is being charged with the murder of tow truck boss, Althaf Dawood, 46, who was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Dawood, the owner of Jumbo’s Towing and Breakdown, was allegedly shot at a crash scene on the N3 near the Felix Dlamini (Brickfield) Road off-ramp.

It is alleged Dawood was called to the scene after one of his drivers got involved in an altercation with a driver from a different company over the towing of a crashed vehicle.

Piyarilal, represented by attorney Ridewaan Sayed, is expected in court later this month to make an application for bail.
