Scottsburg - A 24-year-old man accused of car hijacking appeared in the Scottsburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

The matter was postponed to April 15 for further investigations, said Captain Thulani Zwane.

Thamsanqa Sanele Mthembu was kept in custody.

On Monday, three men hijacked a car in Umkomaas on the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

Police were informed shortly after the incident.

One of the men was arrested after a police chase and a shoot-out with the police. Another one was shot dead by police while the last one managed to run away, said Zwane.

An inquest docket was opened for investigation. Police were searching for the other man.
