Johannesburg -

A man has been arrested after being found in possession of an elephant tusk in Johannesburg, police said on Tuesday.

Security guards in Cyrildene noticed two men carrying a black plastic bag on Monday, Constable Mpho Masakhane said.

“They were stopped and during a search a tusk with a street value of about R6000 was recovered.”

The men ran in different directions when they were questioned, and the guards gave chase. One of them was arrested, but the other eluded capture. - Sapa
