Lichtenburg - A man accused of stabbing to death his pregnant girlfriend and her one-year-old daughter has appeared in the Lichtenburg Magistrate's Court, North West police said on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old Zimbabwean was in court on Tuesday, Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said.

The matter was postponed to January 22, for an interpreter and a bail application.

Samuel Ndlovu was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stabbing his 22-year-old girlfriend, her unborn child, and her daughter. He apparently accused the woman of having an affair.

Mokgwabone said he was not sure if the man faced two or three charges of murder.

North West premier Thandi Modise expressed shock at the murder.

“No amount of anger justifies this heinous act. The heartless person responsible needs to be permanently removed from society.”

Modise urged “real men” to protect women and children.
