A 55-year-old Bloemfontein man has been swindled out of R160,000 by two 'doctors' who promised him they would get his estranged wife to return to him, reported Beeld newspaper on Saturday.

A tearful Pieter Nieuwenhuys told the newspaper that 'Dr Wanda' and 'Dr Fako' had advertised their services in a newspaper.

They made him make several payments, totaling R160,000, for their herbs and spiritual powers which they promised would make his estranged wife, Theresa Nieuwenhuys, return home.

He laid a fraud complaint against the pair with the police on Friday.

Theresa told the newspaper she would not go back to him.

“He is not nearly as innocent as he is pretending to be,” she said. - Sapa
