Butterworth - A Butterworth man was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a woman in front of her husband at knife-point last week in Ceru Village, Eastern Cape police said.

The 23-year-old pushed open the door of the couple's home on Friday around 9.15pm at Tshoveni, in Ceru Village, Captain Jackson Manatha said.

He found the couple sleeping and demanded to know where his girlfriend was.

“When the couple told him that they had no knowledge of his girlfriend, he allegedly drew his knife and threatened the couple.”

The man then allegedly pushed the woman, 37, to another bed and raped her at knife-point, in front of her husband, Manatha said.

When he fell asleep, the couple alerted the police.

The 23-year-old had been charged with rape and was expected to appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, Manatha said.
