Johannesburg - A man was shot dead and a teenager was wounded in three shooting incidents in Reiger Park near Boksburg, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

A 42-year-old man was shot dead around 11am on Wednesday when a VW golf with three men inside stopped outside his house, said Sergeant Mashudu Phathela.

“Two of them got off the car and were involved in a fist fight with him, he produced a gun and fired at them. They retaliated and he was shot dead about 100m from his home.”

In the second incident, Phathela said a 16-year-old boy was wounded when shots were fired at him around 7pm the same day.

“A black VW golf stopped next to him and shot were fired at him. The teenager was taken to hospital.”

Phathela said about 20 metres from the incident the occupants of the same car fired shots at another man but he managed to run away. It was not known whether he was wounded or not.

“It is difficult to say whether this incidents are related to gang fights. The information we got from the community is that the 42-year-old man belonged to a gang,” he said.
