Johannesburg – A 21-year-old man is fighting for his life in a private hospital in Johannesburg after he was shot in the head during a home invasion, paramedic service ER24 said on Wednesday.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the man was critically injured during the armed robbery at a home in Jan Smuts Avenue in Florida, west of Johannesburg.
"ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene and were lead into the home by the family members. Paramedics found a 21-year-old man lying on the floor, surrounded by members of his family."
Meiring said paramedics treated the victim with advanced life support. He was then airlifted by a private medical helicopter to hospital for urgent treatment.
Police were on scene investigating.
