Johannesburg - A man from Kagiso in the West Rand was arrested for stabbing and injuring his grandfather, Gauteng police said on Monday.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said the incident happened at the weekend.

“The police received a complaint of severe stabbing from a member of the community,” Sibiya said.

Police went to the area and found tenants standing around a severely injured old man.

“The wounded 71-year-old man was lying on the ground bleeding profusely from stab wounds allegedly inflicted by his grandson,” Sibiya said.

The man was rushed to hospital where he was stabilised.

The grandson was found in the area. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

He was expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrate's Court soon.
