Johannesburg - A 29-year-old man has been arrested for murder after police found him with a bloody knife in Mayfair, near central Johannesburg, police said on Wednesday.

“Johannesburg central sector police arrested a 29-year-old suspect for murder at Mayfair on 12 March at 1pm,” said spokesman Xoli Mbele.

He stabbed a 30-year-old male in the chest after an argument.

Paramedics found the victim dead on the scene.

The man was caught with the knife after a tip-off to the police which resulted in a chase.

“Police received a complaint of attempted murder and rushed to the scene. They saw a male carrying a knife with blood running away. They gave chase and apprehended him,” said Mbele. - Sapa
