Nelspruit - Police are looking for two men who allegedly tried to cut off the genitals of a man near Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga police said on Wednesday.

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said a 41-year-old man was attacked by four men in Kameelrivier on Monday around 2am while he was on his way home from a tavern with his friend.

“They then grabbed him and said that they want his private parts. While they were in the process of cutting him, he screamed for help and the notorious thugs ran away leaving him bleeding heavily.

“His private parts were not cut off completely.”

Mohlala said the man was taken to the Kameelrivier Clinic and then transferred to Philadelphia Hospital in Dennilton. He was in a stable condition.

The man identified one of his attackers on the way to the hospital and police arrested a 36-year-old man on Monday.

“It is also alleged that in the afternoon, the community mobilised themselves, apprehended the second suspect, 30, assaulted him severely and also cut off his private parts,” said Mohlala.

He was admitted to Mmametlhake Hospital under police guard. No arrests had been made in that attack.

The 36-year-old was expected to appear in the Mdutjana

Magistrate's Court in Siyabuswa on Wednesday on an attempted murder charge.

Mohlala said the motive for the attack was unknown and police were investigating.
