Durban - Estcourt police are searching for suspects in the murders in Wembezi of three people, including a 9-year-old child, at the weekend.

Acting MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, has condemned the slayings, and called on the community to assist police in their investigations.

“If anyone has any information on the incident or whereabouts of the suspects, please contact the police immediately,” Dhlomo said.

Phakamani Ndlovu, 29, Nhlanhla Dlamini, 29, and their son, Luyanda Dlamini, 9, were gunned down at their home at VQ Section in Wembezi by unknown gunmen on Sunday.

It is alleged the assailants stormed the home and opened fire.

Wembezi is a hotbed of political violence, but the motive for the murders is unknown.
