Welkom - A manhunt has been launched after four armed men robbed a Welkom resident and kidnapped him, Free State police said on Thursday.

The men forced themselves into a house on Thursday morning in Welkom, said Captain Stephen Thakeng.

“They took electrical appliances, jewellery, three cellphones and cash. They then took him at gunpoint, and his white Soyat bakkie.”

The man was home with his wife at the time. She was unharmed.

“They took him in their own car and also drove off with his vehicle. Officers are still searching for them.” - Sapa
