Joahnnesburg - Mbuso Mandela, who inherited R4 million from his grandfather Nelson Mandela's estate, was on Thursday released on bail at the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court.

Mbuso Mandela, 24, was arrested last week on Thursday for failing to pay maintenance for his three-year old daughter he has with Gugu Keswa.

He was remanded in custody after he was denied bail for contempt of court.

Police spokesperson Kay Makhubele on Thursday said the accused was given an order to pay the maintenance of the child and he failed.

"The warrant of arrest was issued and we handed Mandela over to the court.

His case on Thursday was postponed and his lawyers might have applied for a speedy bail because he is out of custody," said Makhubele.

The child support matter will be back in court on February 21.
