Cape Town - Western Cape community safety MEC Dan Plato on Tuesday condemned the murder of a five-year-old girl in Bredasdorp.

“I condemn this heinous act and call on the community to assist the police wherever possible to ensure justice is served,” Plato said in a statement.

“My deepest condolences go to the family and friends of five-year-old Kayde Williams in Bredasdorp during this difficult time.”

Williams' body was found in bushes on Monday afternoon. She was reported missing on Sunday.

Two years ago, teenager Anene Booysen was raped and disembowelled on a construction site in Bredasdorp. She was found on Saturday, February 2, 2013 and died in hospital later that day.

Her killer Johannes Kana was given two life sentences for the crime. The Western Cape High Court denied his attempt to apply for leave to appeal against his conviction.
