Three Eastern Cape men accused of killing a man in Bityi, near Mthatha, have appeared in the Bityi Periodical Court, police said on Friday.

Major Ernest Sigobe said Mbongeni Kosiki, 41, Elvis Klaushe, 49, and 40-year-old Tembekile Dyalvane would be back in court on June 20.

Sigobe said two of the men were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly beating to death a man who was believed to be mentally unstable.

Dyalvane handed himself over to police on Wednesday.

The three appeared in court on Thursday.

Sigobe said they found the victim wandering around, and apparently thought he was a thief.

“They didn't know this man, so they thought he was in their area to steal.” – Sapa
