Eastern Cape - Two men have been arrested for allegedly raping and assaulting a woman in Qombolo Village, Centane, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

The woman, 28, was walking home from her mother's house when she was attacked on Wednesday morning. The men allegedly took her to an old building where they raped her, said Captain Jackson Manatha.

“One of the suspects severely assaulted the victim with a stick around her head after they finished raping her,” he said.

The woman went home and told her neighbours what had happened. They went in search of the men, aged 30 and 34, found them and alerted the police.

The men would appear in the Centane Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of rape and assault, said Manatha. - Sapa
