Men held over pensioner’s murder

Johannesburg - Three man accused of raping and murdering an elderly woman have been arrested in a village near Elim, Limpopo police said on Wednesday.

The men were caught in Sereni village on Tuesday, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

The three allegedly attacked Mojaji Sebyene, 83, on Saturday night at her home.

“They allegedly forced their way into her room and demanded money. They then dragged her to nearby bushes where they allegedly raped and assaulted her.”

The men returned to her house and set it alight.

She was found the following day by her neighbours who took her to hospital where she later died.

The men would appear in the Tiyani Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. - Sapa
