A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year-old mentally challenged woman in Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.
He was apprehended on Thursday, Captain Jackson Manatha said.
The 26-year-old man went to the woman's homestead on Tuesday and convinced her to go with him to his home.
“It is alleged (that) he raped the woman for the duration of the night and released her on Wednesday morning,” said Manatha.
She later informed her relatives, and they alerted authorities.
He is due to appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
