Johannesburg - Two Tshwane metro police officers were arrested for armed robbery, Gauteng police said on Saturday.

Captain Augustinah Selepe said they arrested on Friday in Gezina, north of Pretoria. It was alleged they robbed a motorist of R550,000 in cash at gunpoint on Tuesday evening.

“The complainant alleged that he was stopped by the suspects for speeding on the N1 near Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria, on Tuesday,” said Selepe.

“They searched his vehicle, noticed the large amount of cash and subsequently threatened to arrest the victim for money-laundering.”

Selepe said the two would appear in the Pretoria North Magistrate's Court on Monday. -Sapa
