Bloemfontein - The adoptive son of a Harrismith Dutch Reformed Church minister allegedly killed him for a farm, Volksblad newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The State alleges in the charge sheet that the inheritance of the farm was the motive for the murder.
Two men, Martin Brits, 28, and Elliot Mhlambi, 41, stand accused of the murder of Willem Brits and his prospective son-in-law Gerhard Vermeulen, 25, in November last year.
The reverend's wife Dorothea was seriously injured in the attack, the newspaper reported.
The case would go on trial on November 11 in the Harrismith Circuit Court.
The State alleges that when Brits told Martin one of his other sons would inherit the farm, he decided to murder his family to get the farm.
The State alleges the younger Brits contacted a former cell mate from the Frankfort Prison, Mhlambi, to help him, and gave him money to buy an axe to use in the attack.
Brits has confessed to his involvement in the murders, Volksblad reported. - Sapa
