The number of residents arrested for public violence at Reddersburg in the southern Free State has risen to 101 and the N6

road remains closed to traffic, SABC news reported on Tuesday.

On Monday, 53 people were arrested following the barricade of the N6 with burning tyres and rocks.

More arrests came after some angry protesters tried to damage property at one of the township's areas.

Previously they tried to set the municipal offices and a local police station alight.

Residents are demanding that their area be incorporated into the Mangaung Metro which includes Bloemfontein, the broadcaster reported. - Sapa
