Johannesburg - A total of 104 drivers have been arrested this weekend for driving under the influence of alcohol, Johannesburg metro police said on Sunday.
Spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the drivers were arrested during road blocks and routine patrols in Johannesburg.
“The vision of a driver under the influence of alcohol gets impaired and their reactions are also slower than normal. Their perception of distance is also affected... These are all factors which contribute to accidents on our roads.”
Minnaar urged motorists not to drink and drive and advised them to rather let a sober person drive when going out to a party or event. - Sapa
