Johannesburg - The trial of Durban businesswoman Shauwn Mpisane on fraud and other charges continues in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
The state was expected to respond to an application by Mpisane's lawyer, Wim Trengove, for an order instructing it to provide more detail on the charges against her.
Mpisane, who faces charges of fraud, forgery and uttering involving R4.7-million, owns Zikhulise Cleaning Maintenance and Transport CC, and Ukhozi Civil Cleaning and Construction.
The state alleges she submitted false invoices to claim VAT.
On Monday, Trengove argued Mpisane had the right to know more about the charges, that she was “entitled to know what it is that she did in perpetrating the fraud”.
The state claims Mpisane got others to commit the crimes of which she is accused.
However, the state had not revealed with whom, how, or when she did this, Trengove said. - Sapa
