Johannesburg - A man was kidnapped and his family robbed on the plot Swartkop in Muldersdrift, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.

The man was about to get out of his car after returning home with his family around 11pm on Monday when four armed men confronted them, Captain Mosotho Phaahla said.

They escorted him into his house at gunpoint and demanded money. They stole R4000, two Blackberry phones, a laptop and an iPhone. They ordered him back into his car and drove off with him. The robbers abandoned the man's car in Diepsloot and drove away with him again in another car.

They left him in Midrand where he managed to get to a police station in the early hours of Tuesday. His wife contacted the Muldersdrift police shortly after the robbers drove off with her husband. They used the man's bank card to buy alcohol.

No arrests were made. Investigations were continuing. - Sapa
