Cape Town – The trial of alleged murderer Cameron Wilson adjourned abruptly on Wednesday as the accused is set to make admissions in several cases against him on Thursday at the Western Cape High Court.

An irritated Judge Chantal Fortuin told the accused and his lawyer, Advocate Mohamed Sibda, that she would allow no more postponements as the case has been dragging on for nearly two months already.

The matter was postponed to Thursday for Sibda to prepare his client’s admissions and submit them to the prosecutor.

Wilson, 20, is being tried on 15 charges including six counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, rape and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Wilson is accused of murdering teenager Lekita Moore, 18, from Valhalla Park in September last year.

Lekita’s mutilated body was found on a field in Tuna Road, near 8ste Laan informal settlement.

She had been stabbed 98 times and her face, vagina and breasts were slashed.

Wilson has pleaded not guilty on all the charges.

It’s believed his admissions on Thursday relate to Lekita’s case.

Sibda asked the court for a postponement as he had only received the new instructions from his client earlier in the morning.

“I have received instructions from my client earlier and the defence intends to draft admissions. We therefore ask for a postponement until tomorrow [today], if it pleases the court,” Sibda said.

The State agreed to the postponement, but asked that the defence hand over all admissions made in advance to the State.

Addressing Wilson, Judge Fortuin said there would be no more postponements after Thursday.

“Mr Wilson, this court has bent over backwards to accommodate your requests. We will postpone until tomorrow [today] on one condition,” she said.

“You and your lawyer will finish today and the State has to see all admissions made."

“There won’t be another postponement. Today you will consult and tomorrow [today] you will go ahead.”

The trial resumes on Thursday.
