Mtubatuba - Two men have been arrested after a shootout with the police in Mtubatuba, near St Lucia in northern KwaZulu-Natal, police said on Thursday.
Captain Thulani Zwane said they had been linked to three murder cases and one of attempted murder.
Members of the KwaMsane tactical response team were on patrol in the Machibini area of Mtubatuba on Wednesday, when they saw the two sitting in a parked vehicle.
“The occupants opened fire and our members returned fire, wounding both suspects. Two firearms - a 9mm Vekta pistol, and a .38 revolver - and 14 (rounds of) live ammunition were seized from the suspects,” Zwane said.
The men, aged 23 and 32, were taken to hospital under police guard, and would appear soon in the KwaMsane Magistrate's Court. - Sapa
