Motherwell, Eastern Cape -

Nine people were arrested for assaulting a woman and burning down two shacks in Motherwell, near Port Elizabeth, on Monday afternoon, Eastern Cape police said.

“The was a rumour that the group were upset over an issue of housing, but it was not confirmed,” Warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu said.

The group burnt the woman's furniture and some of her clothing.

Gwavu said the nine faced charges of assault, malicious damage to property and arson. - Sapa
