Johannesburg - One of Anni Dewani's killers has been denied medical parole, Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha's office said on Tuesday.

Masutha declined Xolile Mngeni's application, after the correctional supervision and parole board turned it down, spokesman Mthunzi Mhaga said in a statement.

There was “no appropriate arrangement for Mr Mngeni’s supervision, care and treatment within the community to which he was to be released”.

Mngeni, 26, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011.
