Johannesburg - None of Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir's drug-dealing and kidnapping co-accused work for him, the High Court in Johannesburg, sitting in Palm Ridge, heard on Friday.

“No one works for Radovan,” State witness Vusi Msimango told the court. “We all worked together in our criminal activities, but no one worked for him.”

This was how things worked in the world of crime, he said under cross-examination by Marnus Grove, for accused number five Siboniso Miya.

Msimango has testified that he was recruited to help trace a man known as Doctor, who disappeared with 25kg of tik. Doctor, who worked at a cargo company at OR Tambo International airport, was tasked with transporting the drugs to Australia.

Krejcir, Desai Luphondo, warrant officers Samuel Modise Maropeng and George Nthoroane, Jan Lefu Mofokeng, and Siboniso Miya have pleaded not guilty on charges of dealing in drugs, attempted murder and kidnapping.

They allegedly kidnapped and tortured Doctor's brother Bheki Lukhele to try and make him reveal his brother's whereabouts. Lukhele was later dumped alive next to a stadium in Katlehong, on the East Rand.

Dressed in a black T-shirt and grey blazer, Msimango testified that he initially came to know Miya by the name “Zulu”.

He said he was not concerned when he later heard Miya refer to himself as “Sbu” while on the phone.

“Criminals don't usually use their right names,” said Msimango.

Defence counsel have accused Msimango of fabricating evidence and lying to the court.

The trial continues.
