Rustenburg - The chief executive of the National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) says she “doesn’t give a damn” about the political threats a Potchefstroom vet allegedly received that stopped him from handing over a crucial post-mortem report about National Council of Provinces chairwoman Thandi Modise’s “horror farm” to her.

“I don’t give a damn who has been threatened,” Marcelle Meredith told the Saturday Star yesterday, of a report by the Beeld that Sameer Abbas had received threats from “political parties and other interest groups”.

“The correct thing to do from his side would have been to tell us he would hand the pig carcasses and skin samples to us and tell us, ‘I can’t do this for whatever reason, please find another vet’,” she said.

The NSPCA has laid several charges of cruelty and negligence against Modise under the Animal Protection Act.

Police and NSPCA inspectors found starving and dead animals on Modise’s farm near Potchefstroom.
