Kimberley - A security regulatory officer was arrested in Kimberley for corruption, the Hawks said on Wednesday.
Captain Paul Ramaloko said Martha Tsheko Mapunye, 36, was arrested on Tuesday night at an hotel after she had allegedly solicited a R5000 bribe from a security company in the Northern Cape.
He said Mapunye, who worked as an inspector for Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (Psira), found that the security company did not have a certificate and solicited a R5000
bribe in exchange for the Psira accredited certificate.
“The Hawks were informed and she was found with R5000 when she was arrested.”
She appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court on Wednesday and was granted R2500 bail. Her case was postponed to May 8. - Sapa
