Oscar at court for bail bidComment on this story
Pretoria - A winding queue of local and international journalists formed at the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Tuesday morning to cover murder-accused Paralympian Oscar Pistorius' bid for bail.
Around 7am, some of the journalists left the queue, running towards the back entrance of the court as news broke out that police had brought Pistorius to court.
The media were waiting to apply for accreditation to cover the bail application of Pistorius, accused of shooting dead his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his Pretoria home last week on Valentine's Day.
The court room was too small to accommodate all media, so first an accreditation process needed to take place. A maximum of 26
journalists (10 reporters, two sketch artists, eight photographers, three TV cameramen, three radio journalists) would be allowed into the courtroom.
SABC radio news reported that Pistorius slipped into court through a side door, managing to avoid throngs of cameramen waiting outside court. - Sapa
