Pretoria - Paralympian Oscar Pistorius walked out of Boschkop police station in Pretoria with a jacket over his head on Thursday after the fatal shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

He was bundled into a car that sped off.

According to reports, Pistorius was being taken to Mamelodi hospital for blood tests ahead of his appearance in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Thursday afternoon .

The double amputee paralympian athlete, who uses carbon fibre prosthetic legs, sat between two people in the back seat of a white unmarked VW Polo.

A driver and passenger were in the front seat as the vehicle drove off, with photographers vying for a shot of the world famous athlete who had qualified to compete with able-bodied athletes.
