Johannesburg - Murder-accused paralympian Oscar Pistorius will feature on the cover of the March issue of Time Magazine in the United States, Asia, and the South Pacific.

The front page shows a shirtless Pistorius wearing a pair of charcoal-coloured running tights and wearing his iconic running blades.

Printed over his picture are the words: “Man. Superman. Gunman.”

According to Time Magazine's website, the cover would be backed by a six-page article titled: “Oscar Pistorius and South Africa's culture of violence”.

The double-amputee faces a charge of premeditated murder after the fatal shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his home on St Valentine's Day. He was released on bail of R1 million on Friday.

In an affidavit submitted as part of his application for bail, Pistorius said he had thought there was an intruder in his house when he fired the shots. - Sapa
