For many people social media has been the best, or even only way to follow the minute-by-minute action in the Oscar Pistorius murder trial. No matter where in the world you are it's possible to get the most up-to-the minute news from the courtroom on Twitter by following hashtags such as #OscarPistorius and #OscarTrial. 

We began collecting Oscar-related tweets ahead of the third week of the trial to get some idea of how many tweets were being produced and how many people were producing these. We focused on the most obvious hashtags (listed above) as we all those referring to #ReevaSteenkamp and other mentions of Oscar Pistorius. The tweets are being collected continuously and date back to Sunday 16 March. The hourly chart is updated throughout the day.
