A Western Cape man has been arrested for allegedly raping and killing a woman in Bridgton, Oudtshoorn, police said on Monday.

Captain Bernadine Steyn said a passer-by found the woman's partially-clothed body with a wire around her neck in the wreckage of a VW Golf on Sunday.

The man was arrested in the area.

Steyn said the motive for the killing was not clear. She refused to give any more information “pending the investigations”.

The man would appear in the Oudtshoorn Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. – Sapa
