Two men were sentenced in the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court on Friday to nine years imprisonment for armed robbery, Eastern Cape police said.
Lt-Col Priscilla Naidu said Sakhive Joseph, 20, and Unathi Goba, 21, had pleaded guilty to robbing a man at knife-point in January 2011.
“The elderly man was walking in the street when five men surrounded him and robbed him of his cellphone, cash, and stationery,” said Naidu.
“The man managed to flag down a passing police vehicle and reported the incident to them. Two of the robbers were arrested.”
Naidu said the other three men were not arrested. - Sapa
