Two men appeared in the Brits Magistrate's Court on Thursday on charges of illegal possession of ivory, North West police said.

“This follows the two suspects' arrest during an operation by the provincial Hawks rhino task team in Hartbeespoort dam on Wednesday,” Lieutenant-Colonel Lesego Metsi said in a statement.

The two, aged 27 and 31, from the Sondela informal settlement near Rustenburg, were allegedly found in possession of elephant tusks. – Sapa
