Grahamstown - Two men were arrested in Grahamstown on Tuesday for possession of a stolen vehicle, Eastern Cape police said.

Four members of the Grahamstown highway patrol came across a white Madza 323 being pushed by two men while two young women sat inside, Captain Mali Govender said.

“On stopping and making enquiries, the suspects, both in their twenties, stated that they had a flat battery.”

After investigations, police found the car was reported stolen on Monday in King William's Town.

“Further investigations revealed that one of the suspects was sought on several other serious cases, including murder and assaults in King William's Town,” Govender said.

The two would appear in the Grahamstown Magistrate's court on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.

The women were not arrested.
