Johannesburg - An elderly man accused of multiple sex charges was expected to be re-tried in the Parow Regional Court outside Cape Town on Wednesday.

Johannes Kleinhans, 73, initially confessed to the charges, but his testimony during sentencing proceedings contradicted this.

Magistrate Amanda von Leeve said this testimony amounted to him denying the charges.

On August 28, Von Leeve halted sentencing proceedings and reversed his plea of guilty to not guilty on all 95 counts.

Kleinhans initially voluntarily pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting three young girls over a prolonged period, and to the possession of child pornography.

He was arrested in November 2010. - Sapa
