Johannesburg – A 70-year-old man appeared in Modjadjiskloof Periodical Court on charges of attempted murder, Limpopo police said on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said farm owner Michael Toulou allegedly shot a 30-year-old man after accusing him of theft.

"The accused allegedly confronted the victim, Simon Mmethi, accusing him of stealing some wood from his farm. He then shot the victim. Mmethi suffered injuries as a result of the shooting and is still in hospital."

The incident took place at Toulou's farm three weeks ago.

The court granted him R10 000 bail and postponed the case to March 28.
